| Can anyone recommend a good anti barking control that is not cruel to dogs | |

| Our dog doesn't really bark much at all, we may be lucky or it may be the way we have trained him or brought him up. We have based our training on the Jan Fennel philosophy in "The Dog Whisperer". She suggests that if the dog isn't the leader of the pack then he won't be protective ie bark at the postman etc. We do things like feeding the dog after we have eaten etc, she has lots of suggestions in her book. The other things I have heard of but not used personally are an anti-bark collar or the aerosol spray that sprays air at the dog when it barks. Also you could try the discs that you initially teach the dog to associate with a lack of reward (ie removing a biscuit) that you then shak when it barks which can also be effective. Hope this helps | |
